COMPOSITION:
Each 5mL of Mucomaf Extra syrup contains:
Ambroxol HCl …………….………..……. 15mg mg
Dextromethorphan HBr ………….…. 10mg mg
Cetirizine HCl …………………….….…. 5mg 0mg
DESCRIPTION:
Mucomaf Extra has three compositions Which are:
Ambroxol Hydrochloride: Ambroxol works to thin down and break up phlegm (sputum) and is used to clear congestion in the treatment of respiratory diseases which have thick phlegm or too much phlegm. Ambroxol is also used as a pain reliever for sore throats as it has a local numbing effect.
Ambroxol starts working about 30 minutes after it has been taken. The breakdown of acid mucopolysaccharide fibers makes the sputum thinner and less viscous and therefore more easily removed by coughing. Although sputum volume eventually decreases, its viscosity remains low for as long as treatment is maintained.
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide: The hydrobromide salt form of dextromethorphan, a synthetic, methylated dextrorotary analogue of levorphanol, a substance related to codeine and a non-opioid derivate of morphine. Dextromethorphan exhibits antitussive activity and is devoid of analgesic or addictive property.
Cetirizine Hydrochloride: is a second-generation antihistamine widely used in the treatment of various allergic diseases. It works by selectively blocking the H1 histamine receptor, thereby reducing the effects of histamine, which causes symptoms such as itching, swelling and mucus production in allergic reactions.
INDICATION:
Mucomaf Extra has three compositions Which are:
Ambroxol Hydrochloride: which is used to thin the mucus in acute and chronic bronchial and lung diseases where thick, tenacious mucus is a problem.
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide: is an antitussive agent which has no analgesic or addictive properties. It is about equal to codeine in depressing the cough reflex. In therapeutic dosage, dextromethorphan does not inhibit ciliary activity. Dextromethorphan is rabidly absorbed from gastrointestinal tract, metabolized by the liver and excreted primarily in the urine.
Cetirizine Hydrochloride: is a potent non-sedating antihistamine with a low potential for drowsiness at normal doses & with additional anti allergic properties. It is a selective (H1 – receptor) antagonist and virtually free from anti-cholinergic and anti-serotonin effects.
