DESCRIPTION:
Amoxicillin is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract giving high concentration in the serum, tissues and urine. The ingestion of food does not greatly reduce the absorption of
Amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic effective against both Gram-positive and
Gram-negative organisms including:
α- and β-hemolytic streptococci, Pneumococci, non-penicillinase producing Staphylococci, Diphtheria, H. influenzae, Salmonella, Shigellae, E. coli, some Proteus strains, Brucella, Gonococci and Meningococci.
INDICATION:
Moximaf is indicated in the following infections caused by susceptible organisms:
– Infections of respiratory tract: pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis and otitis media.
– Infections of genitourinary tract: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis and gonorrhea.
– Other infections: skin and soft tissue infections and typhoid resistant to chloramphenicol.
– Prophylaxis of endocarditis, may be used for the prevention of bacteraemia.
– With other drugs to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection.
DOSAGE:
Adult: 250 – 500 mg every 8 hours.
1000 mg every 12 hours.
Children: 125 – 250mg every 8 hours.
– Typhoid and paratyphoid:
Adults: 4g daily in divided doses for 14 – 21 days.
Children: 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses for 14 –21 days.
– Uncomplicated urinary tract infection: A single dose 3g.
– Otitis media: 750mg twice daily for two days may be used in children of 3 – 10 days.
– Lower respiratory tract infection 500 mg three times daily.
– Moximaf 1gm twice daily combination with Clarithromycin and Omeprazole to treatment Helicobacter pylori infection.
– Suggested dosages for renal impairment:
– Moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 10 –30 ml/min):
For adult and children over 40 kg: 500 mg twice daily maximum,
but for children under 40 kg :15 mg/kg twice daily.
– Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <10 ml/min):
For adult and children over 40 kg: 500 mg/day maximum,
but for children under 40 kg: 15 mg/kg by mouth.
Storage Conditions:
– Keep the medicine in a dry place at a temperature below 30 °C.
– Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
– Protect the medicine from direct sunlight.
– Do not use Moximaf after expire date.
