Important Information:

This medicine is for the short-term treatment of acute moderate pain when other painkillers are ineffective.

You should only take this product for a maximum of 3 days at a time. If you need to take it for more than 3 days, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine contains codeine, which can be addictive if taken continuously for more than 3 days. This may cause withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it.

If you take this medicine for headaches for more than 3 days, your condition may worsen.

Uses: Mafmol Plus Soluble Tablets can be used in patients over 12 years of age for the short-term relief of moderate pain that is not relieved by other painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen alone. It can be used for pain caused by migraines, headaches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, bruises, sprains, backaches, rheumatic aches and pains, and sciatica. The tablets contain three active ingredients: paracetamol, codeine, and caffeine. Both codeine and paracetamol are painkillers. Codeine belongs to a class of medicines known as opioid analgesics, which work to relieve pain. It can be used alone or in combination with other painkillers. Caffeine helps to enhance the effectiveness of paracetamol.

Do not use:

– If you have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, caffeine, codeine, other opioid painkillers, or any of the other ingredients.

– If you are taking other medicines containing paracetamol or codeine.

– If you are under 12 years of age.

– For pain relief in children and adolescents (from birth to 18 years of age) after tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy due to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

– If you know that codeine is metabolized too quickly into morphine.

– If you are breastfeeding.

Ask your doctor before taking this medicine:

– If you have kidney or liver disease, including symptoms of alcoholic liver disease.

– If you have bowel problems, including bowel obstruction.

– If you have had gallbladder removal surgery.

– If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars.

– If you are on a low-sodium diet.

– If you are taking other medicines.

Warnings and Precautions:

Codeine is converted to morphine in the liver by the enzyme morphine, the substance that produces the pain reliever. There are variations in this enzyme in different people, and this can affect them differently. In some people, morphine is not produced at all, or is produced in very small amounts, and therefore will not provide sufficient pain relief. In others, they are more likely to experience serious side effects due to the production of too much morphine. If you notice any of these side effects, you should stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately: slowed or shallow breathing, confusion, drowsiness, small pupils, nausea, malaise, constipation, or loss of appetite.

Children and Adolescents

Use in Children and Adolescents After Surgery: Codeine should not be used for pain relief in children and adolescents after tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy due to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Use in Children with Breathing Problems: Codeine is not recommended for children with breathing problems, as the symptoms of morphine toxicity may be worse in these children. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Talk to your doctor before taking Mafmol Plus Soluble Tablets if you are pregnant. Do not take Mafmol Plus Soluble Tablets while breastfeeding, as codeine and morphine pass into breast milk.
