Clonazepam
COMPOSITION:
Each uncoated tablet contains:

DESCRIPTION:
Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine compound similar to Diazepam with marked antiepileptic properties. The mechanism of action in humans has not been established. It has been suggested that in animals. Clonazepam acts on epileptogenic tissues in the amygdaloidal complex, hippocampus and septum. Therefore, it appears the anticonvulsant activity is a result of a common inhibitory effect upon certain parts of the reticular formation and thalamic system.
Single oral dose administration of Clonazepam tablets to humans gave maximum blood-levels of drug, in most cases, within one to two hours. The half-life of the parent compound varied from approximately 18 – 50 hours and the major route of excretion was in the urine.
INDICATION:
Clonazepam is indicated for the treatment of all forms of epileptic diseases and seizures in infants, children or adults especially typical or atypical petit mal generalized primary or secondary tonic-clonic seizures including grand mal, status epileptics in all clinical forms focal seizures with elementary or complex symptomatology, various forms of myoclonus and associated abnormal movements.
DOSAGE:
Treatment with Clonazepam is initiated with small doses which are progressively increased to an optimum dose according to the response of the patient.
The usual daily doses, given in 3 or 4 divided doses or as directed by physician,
Infants: 0.5 to 1 mg.
Children:
1 to 5 years: 1 to 3 mg.
Children 5 to 12 years: 3 to 6mg.
Adults: 4 to 8mg.
Withdrawal of Clonazepam or transition to or from another type of antiepileptic therapy should be made gradually to avoid precipitating an increase in the frequency of seizures.
Storage Conditions:
– Keep the medicine in a dry place at a temperature below 30 °C.
– Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
– Protect the medicine from direct sunlight.
– Do not use Clonazepam tablets after expire date.
